Frankfurt has now reached its sixth consecutive quarter final in German Cup play. "We came out aggressively and physically from the start and left no doubt that we would dominate", said a very happy Pascal Roller about the victory. The team arrived late to the game, but it did not hinder their shooting, as they shot an astronomical 62% from the floor (season high). "I was surprised that we shot so well, but we got in a rhythm and our confidence grew and after that we hardly missed our shots", said guard Pascal Roller. The team was never threatened as they led 47 to 30 at half time and scored more than 80 points for the 16th time this season.
Captain Pascal Roller led the team in scoring with 22 points and 5 assists. Coach Didin has stressed to the team to shoot anytime there is an open shot. Pascal Roller, as always, was very involved with the offense: "I made a couple more shots than usual and I simply will shoot more if I have the chance on pick and roles." The team was well balanced in scoring as American Chris Williams scored 21 Points to record his 14 double double of the season. Newcomer Mladjen Sljivancanin continued to have the hot hand as he chipped in with 20 points. The team also recorded season best marks for 3 point field goal percentage at 59% and had only eight turnovers.
Würzburg could not improve on their season`s 41% team field goal percentage as they shot miserably from the floor at 30%. The tough Frankfurt defense was able to keep BBL leading scorer Jeremy Veal in check by limiting him to 15 Points (4/13 shooting). Würzburg played like a 15th place team and really had no chance against Frankfurt. This win could give a good confidence boost to the team for the next Bundesliga games against Giessen and Schwelm. Malik Badiane scored his first points after being out of action for three months. "The return of Malik and Robert will make us stronger under the basket. Winning is about strong defense and controlling the boards", says a confident Captain Pascal Roller about the future of the OPEL SKYLINERS. With Badiane and Maras slowly coming back and a new acquisition looming on the horizon, the future of the OPEL SKYLINERS could be looking very much brighter than the current winter here. The OPEL SKYLINERS play their next cup game on April 6. They will find out who their next opponent is on Febuary 26, when the official drawing is in Leverkusen.
