Mario Kasun has been playing for the Orlando Magic in the Summerleague last year already. The Orlando Magic assured the rights for our number 6 in the 2002 NBA Draft. Last year Mario convinced the NBA Scouts with his dedication and especially with his rebound-work.
"Despite playing Summerleague last year al- ready, so that it is nothing new to me, I am a bit nervous, again."
Our 23 year old Power Forward will earn a lot of experience this summer. From June 8. until June 12. he will play in the Orlando Pro Summer League and afterwards in the NBA Pro Summer League (14.-20.7).
Last season Mario averaged 10,3 points and 5,5 rebounds a game for the OPEL SKYLINERS. How does he see his chances to convince as the "Big Dunker" in the NBA?
"The NBA is still my goal, of course. But it does not only depend on my game whether i will make it or not. There are different other factors. Some luck is necessary,too. Anyways I will be 100% focused to make the best I can."
The last days Mario was working out hard with Christian Faigle, the athletic coach of the OPEL SKYLINERS. Furthermore he got some effective minutes in a memory game for Drazen Petrovic. The croatian Basketballlegend died in June 1993 in a tragic car accident. Long before Nowitzki and Stojakovic, he was seen as the best european player. He died at the age of 28.
To honour Drazen Petrovic the croatian national team of 1992, which won silver at the Olympic games in Barcelona with Drazen, played the actual national team with Mario. Despite his team lost 100:96, the game will stay in good remembrance for Mario. "The atmosphere was great, everybody had a good time. Drazen would have liked it. He is still an idol for all of us."
