Elephants meet at the OPEL SKYLINERS

Elephants Club Frankfurt e.V., Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt and OPEL SKYLINERS present Top-Basketball in Frankfurt.High Class Teams are joining the competition: ZSKA Moskau (U 20), the U 20 National Team of the Czech Republic, another European Top-Team and the Team of Basketball Academy RheinMain. The "Elephants-Cup" will take place in Basketball-City (Titus Therme) and at the Ballsporthalle. The final starts right before the OPEL SKYLINERS Home Game on the third day of the Basketball-Bundesliga-Season 2003/04.

The CEO of the Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt, Hartmut Schwesinger, is pleased about the cooperation between the OPEL SKYLINERS and the Elephants Club. "The IT-Professionals made the right decision by organising this tournament together with Frankfurt`s Basketball-Pros. That is a huge success for our city. The Elephants thereby acknowledge the professionality of the OPEL SKYLINERS. The competition also underlines Frankfurt`s internationality concerning sports."

Hartmut Schwesinger continues: "This youth tournament shows the future oriented mentality of all participants. Especially the invitation of ZSKA Moskau gives lasting support to the work of the Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt." The CEO is certain, that Frankfurt`s citizens will give their young guests a warm welcome, because that is the day to day experience in Frankfurt.

For the CEO of the Olympja GmbH, Heinz-Jürgen Weiss, the Elephants-Cup confirms the close connection between Business and Sports in Frankfurt: "This event once again demonstrates Frankfurt`s internationality and its enthusiasm for sports. I am especially glad, that the participants decided to create an international tournament for the rising generation. The youth of the world is always welcome in Frankfurt."

Since its founding in 1991 the Elephants Club Frankfurt e.V. strives to use global networks and combine powers. All members support each other through a collectiv, whose major concerns are knowledge, contacts und charity.

Karl Hecken, president of the Elephants Club Frankfurt e.V. explains: "This network of established IT Managers generates successfull strategies for the future. It is an ever growing pool of creative ideas and shared experiences. We organise a number of events in order to build up contacts, share thoughts and raise money through sponsoring for the beneficial goals of our Club.

Attracted by these tremendous possibilities the circle of friends and supporters of the Elephants Club has grown to 3000 (in words: three thousand) people. The Elephants Club´s event programme provides a chance for all members to build up or intensify their business connections with clients and partners."

For the OPEL SKYLINERS General Manager, Gunnar Wöbke, the tournament is an important step towards the establishment of the Academy in Europe´s Basketball scene. "We expect to see Basketball on the highest European Level in Frankfurt. It will be a big challenge for the Academy Team of the OPEL SKYLINERS to play against the young team of the multiple Russian Champion and the U 20 National Team of the Czech Republic."
